Laminate Floor Cleaning Method: with homemade floor cleaner

Before cleaning your laminate floors, it is best to remove everything from the room that is supported by or touching the floor. While this may seem like a hassle, it will make the actual cleaning easier and help remove allergens such as dust from under your furniture.

Sweep, dust mop, or vacuum before you clean the floors. I prefer the dust mop or vacuum as it minimizes the amount of debris that is stirred up into the air, which can take over an hour to settle right back on your now clean floors.

Mix your cleaning solution: equal parts water (preferably distilled), rubbing alcohol, and white vinegar.

Use a cloth mop, or towel, to clean your laminate floor as the sponge mops have metal bases that can scratch the laminate. Spray the cleaning solution onto the mop or towel, not directly onto the floor. Too much moisture can warp your laminate floors, so be sure to rinse and wring out your mop often.

Finish up by drying the floors with a towel so as not to leave any water spots or excess moisture.
